Our Coaching Staff

Brent Ridenour, Camp Director

Brent Ridenour is in his 19th year as Head Coach for the men’s soccer program at Ohio Northern University.  He has the most wins of any coach in the 50 year history of the Ohio Athletic Conference.

He led the Polar Bears to their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament Title and the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006. Under Ridenour, His teams have won the OAC regular season championship eight times (2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015) and the OAC Tournament seven times (2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015). Ridenour has been named the OAC Coach of the Year SIX times (2003, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015) the Ohio Division 3 Coach of the Year two times in 2008 and 2012, and the NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year two times in 2011 and 2012.

Ridenour helped lead the Polar Bears to the National Championship game in 2012 and a ranking of #2 in the country. He has more wins in ONU history than any other men’s soccer coach.   He is 2nd all-time in goals scored at Ohio Northern University, scoring 56 goals in his four years. Ridenour was also a four-time All-Conference player, and in 2007, Ridenour became the first men’s soccer player to be inducted into ONU’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

He has extensive camp and coaching experience and has been a Camp Director for Polar Bear Soccer Camps for over fifteen years.

Dave Knapp, Camp Director

Dave Knapp is currently an Assistant Coach and the Goalkeeper Coach for the Men’s and Women’s soccer programs at Ohio Northern University. While playing at Ohio Northern, Dave enjoyed an incredible four-year career, compiling 486 saves, still tops among all goalkeepers in ONU history. In Coach Knapp’s 15 seasons as goalkeeper trainer at Ohio Northern, he has coached ten all conference goalkeepers, two all region honorees and an All-American. Dave has been on the Polar Bear Soccer Camps staff for over 15 years and will be directing all residential camps and all of the goalkeeper sessions.

Chris Matejka – Camp Director

Chris Matejka is in his fourth year as an assistant coach for Ohio Northern and Camp Director for Polar Bear Soccer Camps. A 2013 graduate of ONU, Chris was a four-year varsity letter winner for the program and a captain as a senior. During his ONU Soccer career as a player, Chris won 4 OAC Championships and made 4 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. As a senior he was named All-American and OAC Midfielder of the year.

Cayleb Paulino, Camp Director

Cayleb Paulino is in his third year as an assistant coach for Ohio Northern.  Prior to joining the ONU staff, Cayleb was the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Defiance College from 2012-2014 where he also earned his Masters of Art Education with a concentration in Sport Coaching. A 2011 graduate from Wilmington College, Cayleb was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Wilmington College men’s soccer program and was a two year captain, two time Academic All-OAC student-athlete, and All-East Region Scholar Athlete.

Michael Albert, Camp Director

Michael has been coaching soccer for the past nine years in the  area.  He is currently the Director of Coaching for Ohio Extreme SC North.    Before joining the Ohio Extreme SC staff, he coached at the University of Findlay for two years, and at Findlay High School for three years. He has also directed and worked many soccer camps in the Findlay area and all around the state of Ohio. Michael is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio where he grew up playing club and high school soccer before going on to play in college at the University of Findlay. While playing at the University of Findlay Michael received his undergraduate degree in AYA Social Studies and also a degree in History. During his coaching experience at the University of Findlay he received his Master’s Degree in Education/Human Resources.

Andrew Gray, Camp Director

Andrew has been coaching high level soccer for three years.    Prior to joining the the Polar Bear staff, Andrew was an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program at Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne from 2015-2016, and was also actively involved in the Fort Wayne Sport Club soccer organization. He also served as an assistant coach for the men’s program at Franklin (Ind.) from 2014-2015, and then also as a student assistant coach for the men’s program at Manchester (Ind.) from 2013-2014.  Andrew is currently the Director of Coaching and Player Development for Ohio Extreme SC South.   A 2013 graduate from Manchester, Andrew was a four year varsity letter winner for the Spartan’s men’s soccer program and started every game he played in. Andrew earned a degree in Health and Physical Education from Manchester in 2013 and is an Anderson, Ind., native.
